Soul Destroyers

Date: 31st December 2024
Time: Doors open 7pm
Location: Lydney Town Hall

Specially for our new years concert of 2024/25 – the mighty Soul Destroyers are more of a tribe than a band, and have been playing their mix of cheese tinged, horn driven soul since Adam was a lad – the line up has come and gone, some have drifted into the sunset, some have died, and some have (genuinely) been born, grown up and then joined the band!
A 13 piece line up, with 6 awesome horns, 3 singers and a rock solid rhythm section it is an unnatural phenomenon of truly awe-inspiring musical power.
But the music is only part of the story, think Marvin, Aretha and James Brown all jamming under the influence of laughing gas – all fronted by a stand up comedian with a rasping soul voice and the comedy timing of Peter Kay and you are getting close to full The Soul Destroyers Experience.

“The Soul Destroyers have an arsenal of secret weapons; a bellowing, charismatic lead singer-cum- stand-up comic, female backing singers who behave like devils and sing like angels, a rock-solid rhythm section and a 6 piece horn section that packs more brass than Lilly Savage.”
(Andy Stead – Gloucester Guildhall Arts Centre)

His new album ‘Blues In Isolation’ reached the prestigious number one slot in the IBBA charts in May 2024, ‘an album full of stunning guitar virtuosity’ (Blues In Britain). Co-produced by Paul Long (Catfish/BB King/BBC Radio 2) and drummer Paul Arthurs it launched to a sold out Cheltenham Playhouse with the first single, Whiskey and Wine, hailed by renowned jazz and blues broadcaster Spencer Evans as ‘exceptional’, and builds on the attention AV3 received that was also a Top 10 album on the IBBA chart in January this year.

The Unravelling Wilburys

Date: 11th October 2025
Time: Doors open 7pm
Location: Lydney Town Hall
Concert

This top tribute show is more than just a tribute – they are the complete package! With their perfect combination of brilliant musicianship and tongue in cheek humour, they have had rave reviews throughout the UK.
Playing the country-rock songs of the 1980s supergroup ‘The Traveling Wilburys’, the band also steal some choice numbers from the back catalogue of each of its five iconic members; Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.
Born out of the ashes of the popular Beatles tribute band Sgt Pepper’s Only Dart Board Band, the fabulous UNRAVELLING WILBURYS are made up of Sticky Willy, Walter, Thumper, Blind Melon and Honky Tonk Wilbury, the “real” Wilbury brothers, who present their own unique slant on what it means to be a tribute band. The show tells the story of the fateful night in Nashville’s Tootsies Bar in 1987, when their songs were (allegedly) stolen by Messrs Orbison & Co. and the hard road they had to tread to get ‘em back.
Songs such as ‘End of the Line’, ‘Handle with Care’, ‘The Devil’s Been Busy’, and ‘Tweeter and The Monkey Man’ form the basis of the set, which also features additional choice cuts including ‘Pretty Woman’ (Orbison), ‘Mr Blue Sky’ (Lynne), ‘American Girl’ (Petty), ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ (Harrison), and ‘A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall’ (Dylan).
With music for everyone to enjoy, this is an evening not to be missed. A fabulous night out for lovers of great music.

Location: Lydney Town Hall
Concert

Formed in 2009, SLADEST bring the energy and style of Glam Rock icons Slade to life. Featuring the Noddyesque vocals of Andy Reilly, and a band who are old enough to know better, Sladest are guaranteed to ‘Bring the house down’ and you’ll certainly ‘Feel the noize’

Sladest have played in venues across the UK, and have been privileged to headline the UK Slade Convention for the last three years, so start your Christmas off in style by putting on your gladrags and platforms, and get ready to shout that iconic line…………ITS CHRISTMAAAAAAAAAAS!!!! Coz it’s not Christmas til Noddy says so.
Tickets only £20 will be available soon from the Town Hall Box Office.
